I first used MicroStrategy a few years back within pharmacy procurement during my tenure at Shoppers Drug Mart. Simple to use, allowed for some creativity and access to info without use of SQL but definitely had its limitations and specific use cases. Years went by and one hears about Power BI, ThoughtSpot, Sigma, etc. in the market. My team and I actually implemented, launched and drove adoption of ThoughtSpot at Canadian Tire (https://lnkd.in/gkD7AZCj). MicroStrategy this year though has been named by Snowflake as the one to watch in BI space. The product has been evolving from cloud capability, security and of course user interface perspective. It was definitely interesting to see some of the new capabilities during Snowflake World Tour in Toronto. There are a number of ETL tools for cloud warehouses in the market including Apache​ Airflow, Fivetran, Stitch, Integrate.io, Matillion. Choice of the tool is dependent on team's tolerance for click-and-point capabilities, familiarity with required programming language (SQL or Python) and of course time-sensitivity of your projects. For example, Matillion (always on top 5 lists of ETL tools for Snowflake) moves data from 70 data sources to Snowflake but click-and-point capabilities are weak compared to low-code alternatives Integrate.io. While users can drag components onto visual workspaces at a specific point in a pipeline, the entire process requires SQL knowledge.
